Red Hook Winery tasting Monday December 3rd, @ The Winemaker Studio, 5-9pm
THE WINEMAKER STUDIO
December 03, 2012
As you may or may not know Red Hook Winery in Red Hook, Brooklyn was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy with 5 feet of water from the storm surge in the winery. They lost everything; winery equipment, office equipment, and more importantly 3 vintages of wine in tank and barrel all washed away or was contaminated.
We reached out to Red Hook as soon as we heard and asked how we could help. Red Hook had some inventory off site, they told us that the best help would be to sell the wine they have in order to raise some cash and they refused charity. Mark Snyder, owner of Red Hook, said they ended up being luckier then many of their neighbors in the area, they at least have inventory they can liquidate and many of the businesses in the area are in need of help or charity even more than they are. While the future of Red Hook Winery is uncertain they ask for us to enjoy what remains of the fruits of their labor.
To do our part to support one of our industry colleagues please come, purchase, and enjoy the small selection of the Red Hook wines we are featuring at The Winemaker Studio.
A free tasting on December 3rd of all the Red Hook wines we have in stock (15 wines) on a first come first serve basis (until tasting bottles run out), from 5-9pm. Bottles will also be available for purchase to support The Red Hook Winery as well as local wines and growers. All the Red Hook wines we have at The Winemaker Studio are from North Fork vineyards including, Jamesport Vineyard, Split Rock Vineyard, Palmer Vineyard, One Woman Vineyard, Mattabella Vineyard, Sargon Vineyard, and Macari Vineyards.
Each of the wines are made by one of two infamous Napa Valley winemakers; Bob Foley or Abe Schoener, with polar opposite wine making styles and working with the same North Fork fruit.
